This past weekend Transpo® Industries took part in the Western Association of State Highway and Transportation’s (WASHTO) 2017 Annual Meeting in scenic Juneau, Alaska. The event brought together top highway transportation professionals for both conferences on important industry issues and fun as can only be had in Alaska. The event was attended by the Alaska State Department of Transportation CEOs, leading regional chief engineers and many more from more than 18 western states.

One such event, sponsored by Transpo®, was the ‘Halibut Fishing Tour’ lead by our own Brian Buggehhagen. Brian is a Regional Manager who hails from Denver, Colorado. Not only did the boat tour include an impressive halibut haul, but passengers were able to enjoy spectacular views and interactions with some of the northwest wildlife. Alas, we at Transpo® did not take home the trophy catch (a whopping 80-pound halibut who managed to wiggle free), however we would like to thank all the wonderful transportation professionals who took part in the event.

For over a year extensive repairs and construction have been ongoing as part of a $4 billion project to preserve and remodel LaGuardia Airport. In cooperation with this massive undertaking, the Port Authority of NY and NJ reached out to Transpo® for transportation safety supplies for both runway maintenance as well as pedestrian safety efforts.

The runway is one of the center points of any airport, and given the extreme amount of traffic LaGuardia sees annually the Port Authority of NY and NJ wanted the most durable and resilient options available for repairs. It is with no surprise they chose Transpo®’s T-17 Patching coupled with the E-Bond 526. The T-17 Patching is renowned for being extremely hard-wearing, while the E-Bond can withstand staggering weather conditions and is skid preventative. E-Bond is an anti-skid high friction surface treatment that reduces accidents and fatalities by improving breaking distances as well as decreasing skidding and hydroplaning.

Additionally, as in 2016 alone the airport saw more than 29 million travelers, walk-way and pedestrian road-way safety was a huge focus. For this, the authorities looked to Transpo®’s Step-Safe ADA Detectable Warning Tiles and Mats to ensure the crosswalks were clearly marked no matter what the New York seasonal climate might throw.

As part of a major effort to repair many of New York city’s busiest transits to ensure commuter safety, Transpo® supplied the durable Visi-Barrier®. Due to the high volume of commuters the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel sees daily, Visi-Barrier® was a must. This Precast Polymer Concrete Barrier Panel is a go-to choice for highway engineers as it offers maximum longevity, not to mention unparalleled visibility no matter the driving conditions.

Transpo® is proud of its continued work with the New York MTA, working to further safeguard the roads, bridges, tunnels and railways of all five of New York city’s boroughs.

Transpo®  Industries has long enjoyed a wonderful affiliation with our friends at the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE), and we are excited to announce we will be attending this year’s national conference in New York city.

This year’s conference is scheduled for June 14 – 18, 2017 at the Sheraton Times Square and will be hosted by the NY Metro branch of ASHE.  Not only will some of the top highway engineers in the country be present, but many transportation safety industry professionals will be presenting innovative and important sessions.

Transpo® Industries is proud of its long-standing relationship with the United States Army, and we stand united in our shared goals of safeguarding the US. Recently, Transpo® was again given the wonderful opportunity to help implement road safety measures for the armed services at an army training facility in Tennessee.

Using Transpo® ’s Color-Safe pavement markings around the training facility, the soldiers are now assured maximum road safety regardless of the weather conditions.

Transpo® wishes all the best to all the men and women who serve in the United States Army, and thank them for their steadfast dedication.

Color-Safe® Bike Lanes

SAFER STREETS FOR ALL ROAD USERS IS A NATIONAL EFFORT!

Green colored bike lane surfacing is a safety feature that communicates to road users that a portion of the roadway has been set aside for preferential or dedicated use by bicyclists. Painted bike lanes serve as a continuous reminder to drivers of the possibility of the presence of bicyclists as they merge or change lanes.

Color-Safe® Durable Pavement Markings are the most cost-effective, high definition color markings on the market today.  This innovative system is supplied with pre-packaged aggregate making application easy and the green surface durable and able to withstand bike traffic and vehicular traffic.

Color-Safe® Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) resin component is capable of full cure in a wide range of temperatures therefore extending the marking season and increasing productivity.

Color-Safe® bike lane painting is applied in a single application. No special spray, mixing equipment or heat is required for installation and MMA symbols and striping develop a strong bond to existing MMA, so look to Color-Safe® as a viable alternative to thermoplastic markings on both concrete and asphalt surfaces.
